About Nova House

An organisation that creates space for recovery

Nova House is a recovery residence offering supported housing and guidance to people rebuilding their lives after addiction.

Over Nova House
History & Growth

From a small initiative to a well-established organisation

Nova House was founded in December 2010, with its first office on Nova Zemblastraat in Amsterdam. As the organisation expanded, the office became too small to accommodate the growing number of support sessions and programme activities.

Nova House first moved to a nearby location before relocating to Planciusstraat in 2015, where its head office is now based. The original office on Nova Zemblastraat remains part of Nova House and is now used by self-help fellowships and recovery meetings, including AA, NA and CA.

Self-Reliance

Measuring progress across all areas of life

Clients' progress towards self-reliance is measured using the Self-Reliance Matrix (ZRM). The matrix is completed at three key intervals during a client's stay: upon admission, midway through the programme, and at discharge.

The matrix helps clients and their personal counsellor monitor progress across various areas of life and identify where additional support may be needed. It also provides a framework for reviewing progress and setting new goals. One year after discharge, Nova House reassesses clients using the ZRM. This follow-up enables Nova House to evaluate long-term outcomes and identify areas that may require greater attention during the transition to independent living.

Quality

Professional, personalised care

As a smaller healthcare provider, Nova House is committed to delivering high-quality, personalised care. Measuring client satisfaction is an important part of our quality assurance policy.

Client Council & Feedback

Nova House strives to conduct a client satisfaction survey twice a year through the Client Council. Clients are invited to rate various aspects of the programme, as well as Nova House as a whole. This feedback is used to identify opportunities for improvement and continually enhance the quality of our services.

HKZ Certification

Nova House operates in accordance with the HKZ Standard 143 for small healthcare organisations. Our processes and procedures are documented in a quality manual, which is reviewed and updated annually. Independent certification plays an important role in maintaining our high standards and strengthening our collaboration with local authorities.

Association for Quality in Safehouses (VKS)

As a member of the Association for Quality in Safehouses (VKS), Nova House consistently maintains its annual VKS certification. The certification is awarded only to organisations that meet rigorous standards for the quality of their care and support services.
